Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes what information we collect from our Site’s visitors, how we use that information, how we protect and secure it, and what choices our visitors have regarding how their information is used.  For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the terms “we,” “us,” “our,” and “CANCER101” refer to CANCER101, Inc.  “You” refers to you, as a user of the Site.  “Site” refers to www.CANCER101.org and all webpages contained within the CANCER101.org domain.  By using this Site in any way, you signify your agreement to this Privacy Policy and consent to our collection and use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

While you are visiting the Site, we may collect two types of information about users: “Personal Information” (such as name, email address, mailing address, phone, credit card or debit card, personal preferences, and other account-related information) and “Aggregate Information” (such as information about how many users log on to the Site on a daily basis).

Personal Information

Visitors can access and browse the Site without disclosing any personally identifiable information.  We do track information provided to us by your browser, including the website you came from (known as the “referring URL”), the type of browser you use, the time and date of access, and other information that does not personally identify you.

CANCER101 may obtain Personal Information about you only if you elect to give us that information.  Types of Personal Information may include your name, address, email address, gender, age, whether you are a breast cancer survivor or your relationship to a breast cancer survivor, and how you heard about the Site.  Additionally, we also collect information that you voluntarily provide to us if you contact us via a web-based email or with a question or comment about our Site, such as your name, company name, telephone number, email address, and home or business address.

Most of the Site does not require any form of registration, allowing you to visit the Site without telling us who you are or giving us any information.  However, to register with CANCER101, make a donation, complete a survey or order a planner, event ticket or other service or product, you may be required to enter Personal Information.  When doing so, you must complete certain fields.  In these situations, if you choose to withhold any personal data that is required, it may not be possible for you to register with the Site or complete a proposed transaction. Additionally, we may ask you to provide credit card information and other Personal Information when purchasing a planner or making a donation online.

Aggregate Information

Aggregate Information is non-personally identifiable/anonymous information about you, such as pages most frequently accessed by you, time spent on a page or area of the Site, the number of visits to the Site by you, types of browser used by you, cookie preferences, or search terms entered by you. Aggregate Information is used in a collective manner, and no one person can be identified by that compiled information (for example, the number of people who logged into the Site in a particular day). Aggregate Information does not personally identify a specific user.

Cookies

The Site may use cookies to enhance your experience while using the Site.  Cookies are small files that are sent to your web browser and stored on your computer’s hard drive to improve your experience on the Site.  The cookie is used to speed up your access to the Site and the information you see on the Site, but it does not contain any Personal Information.  The majority of web browsers accept cookies.  However, if you would prefer not to receive cookies, you can alter the configuration of your web browser to refuse cookies.  Please be aware that if you block cookies, some areas of the Site may not function properly.

How We Use Information

CANCER101 limits the use of information obtained on our Site to the following:

  1. If you do not make a donation, order a planner, or otherwise identify yourself, we will have no Personal Information about you.  We will only use the Aggregate Information derived from your use of our Site to improve our Site and our service to you.
  2. If you provide Personal Information, we will enter your name into our database and use the information to gain information about who is visiting the Site and further improve our Site.  We may also contact you to respond to your inquiry about volunteering or donating, enable you to make a donation, complete a survey, order a planner, event ticket or other service or product, supply you with information, or request voluntary information or monetary contributions.
  3. We collect the email addresses of those who communicate with us by email.  Such information may be entered into our database, and we may contact you as provided in Section 2 above.

How We Protect Information

However, such third parties are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of Personal Information and are not authorized to use Personal Information for any purpose other than providing those services.

In addition, we may release information we have collected when legally required to do so, at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our Site and applicable laws, or to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our Site. We also reserve the right to share, assign, or transfer your Personal Information to any of our affiliates or any successor in interest to our organization by merger, reorganization, or operation of law.
